What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation, one that you have experienced many times before in everyday settings. It could be described as a state of focused attention and relaxation. Reading a book and being absorbed in the stories, and the sights and sounds it evokes, or driving a car when you’re aware of what you’re doing and your external environment but still working at a partly automatic level. Being in a hypnotic state is unique to everyone, and we all experience it differently.

 Am I in Control? The short answer is yes -absolutely. You can bring yourself out of a hypnotic state at any point. You cannot be coerced into doing anything you don’t want to do. Hypnotherapy is very different from the stagecraft you may have seen today. Most people find hypnosis profoundly relaxing, and the awareness that they are indeed in control can enable them to relax deeper into a trance state.

Do you use scripts, and if so, is it the same script with every client? Hypnosis is joint co-creation where I work with you, not on you. I sometimes work with scripts, but I write them for you, and are bespoke to each individual. I take your story and weave in metaphors to retell it and help you with whatever issue you are working on.

What happens in the first session? I will explore with you what has brought you to this point and what it is you would like to gain from hypnotherapy, and from there, we will start to work together. Often in the first session, we will do a small amount of hypnotherapy that is content free, usually a relaxation process so that you become familiar with the process. In future sessions, I will continue to work with you in co-creating your story, the content of which will be used in further hypnosis work.

Is it confidential? Absolutely, however with a few caveats, mainly based on safeguarding and other legal requirements. Please see my confidentiality policy on this site under the policies headline. You will also find other ethical guidelines that I work with, and I would appreciate it if you would read these essential policies.

How many sessions will I need? If you complete the hero journey package, the sessions will be a minimum of 12. There may be more, but, on the whole, 12 sessions, one for each step of the journey, is enough. If you choose to work differently and opt for individual sessions, the amount depends on what you would like to work on, but as an estimate, it can be as little as 3 to 4 sessions.

How often are sessions? Session bookings are flexible, but usually, we continue on the same day at the same time once a week. Although, some people prefer fortnightly appointments to assimilate information -it is your choice.

How much are the sessions? Sessions are 50 GBP each. For the Hero Journey package, the full cost is 600 GBP.
